How to Make Easter 2026 Meaningful in the Middle of Spring Break by Twyla Franz

How to Make Easter 2026 Meaningful in the Middle of Spring Break

For us, Easter 2026 falls on the first weekend of spring break. We’re missing the Easter celebration at our just-turned-one church plant. The farmhouse table my neighbor designed and built for us will be quietly bare this year–because we won’t be here.

Perhaps spring break and Easter overlap for you as well, or some other change of plans has you worried Easter will be less momentous.

How do we make Easter meaningful in the middle of spring break–and all sorts of honest aches?

Lately, it seems we’re walking the thin line between breaking and believing. Lighting candles because we need a flicker of hope. Lengthening hugs because we all need the warmth of presence.

Lately, it seems we’re walking the thin line between breaking and believing (Easter quotes by Twyla Franz)

Busy compounds with busy, and we’re squeezed between what was already a lot and the extra that accompanies precarious health and handheld prayers and hushed dreams.

And yet, even when we don’t feel ready, even when our souls are knotted rather than awed in grateful anticipation, even when our worship feels feeble, God enters. He enters right into our heartbreak like exploding light piercing a weighted world. Steps into our spring-break-upended schedule, right on time.

Oftentimes, Easter comes when we feel least ready. Because God? He’s always ready for us.

He is the hope that burns bright in the night. The presence that erases the aloneness, eases the ache, encircles us in ready-for-us arms.

Easter Isn’t Made, But Received

The best way to make Easter 2026 meaningful is simply to receive it.

Wherever you are.

Whatever you are doing.

No matter how unready you feel,

or how unsteady the ground beneath you—

still that precious soul of yours and turn towards the One who turned the world upside down so He could be right next to you.

You don’t have to run harder to catch up to Him, or work harder to warrant His attention; you simply have to orient yourself in the right direction.

Face Him so you can feel the weight of His words: “You are worth it to Me.”

Easter 2026 and spring break quotes by Twyla Franz

Take in the tenderness of His gaze, the fierce strength of His love, the scar-bearing hands bearing you up.

Let Him unwind the bitterness and the busyness, the fear that blankets you and the blankness that hollows you.

Let Him hold you. Your shame. Your array of worries. Your angsty self-talk.

This God who embraces, who graces us with what we need for where He calls us, who chases after us with undying, eternal love–He’s here, dripping in holiness, resplendent in glory, overshadowing everything impassive or appearing impossible in your life.

Easter meets us exactly where we are because Jesus is always the answer we need.

Ready or not, God is ready for you.

This Easter, simply receive His stretched-wide arms and relentless attention.

A Most Meaningful Easter

You don’t need Easter to look like last year for it to be meaningful. You just need the One who meant every word when He said, “I’ll rise again so I can be right next to you.”

Even when you’re away from home, let Christ make His home in you.

Even if there’s unmistakable emptiness in your life, don’t mistake God’s remarkable love for you.

Even when you miss traditions you hold dear, God never stops holding onto you.

No amount of Easter eggs, no number of plates on the tables, no spread of brunch or dinner or dessert can make Easter great. Likewise, no family picture in the photo booth at church, no Sunday sermon, no praised dress or filled basket can capture what Christ already did to make Easter extraordinary.

The circumstances of Easter 2026 cannot diminish what Christ already won.

You.

You and your tender soul.

You and your tangled emotions.

You and the pressure you’re under.

You and the deadlines you’re dreading.

You and your patient petition.

You and your hopeful heart.

You were on His mind as He offered His hand to the nail and body to the beam.

You were on His mind as He offered His hand to the nail and body to the beam. (Twyla Franz Easter quotes)

He saw you, as you are today. Knew exactly where you would be. And with unstoppable emotion wrenching His heart wide open, He whispered, “I love her!”

A Prayer for Easter 2026

I pray, this Easter, that you can find a few minutes to receive the aching, enduring love God lavishes on you. I ask that, exactly where you are, you will know you are extravagantly loved. That no matter how different or difficult Easter may be this year, it will be personally meaningful to you.

As you sit with the One who loved you to the cross and back, may you know that you are a priority to Him. That His passion pursues you. That He’s endlessly devoted to you.

Just as the sun rises, full of hope, even when it’s hidden behind clouds, I pray you will know God never disappears. Even when you’re distracted, disappointed, or desperate, may your soul hold the assurance that God holds you.

For every break in your life, may the broken body of Christ pave a way to wholeness.

For every unmet expectation, may God’s utmost attention meet you with more grace.

May you know in every corner of your heart that Easter is for you. That God came for you. That He’s here for you right now.

In the precious name of our Lord, I pray. Amen.

Just a friend over here in your corner,

Twyla
