Book Recommendation: Follow God’s Will by Brittany Ann, founder of Equipping Godly Women
Do you find Scripture confusing, contradictory, or irrelevant? You want to follow God’s will for your life, but you aren’t exactly sure what it is—or how to live it out in your everyday life. Sometimes you wonder if you’ll ever hear God’s voice for yourself. Sometimes you doubt you’re capable of understanding what God’s actually saying in the Bible.
Friend, you’re not alone. Brittany Ann, author of Follow God’s Will, has wrestled with questions like
- How can I figure out God’s will for my life personally?
- How should I apply the Bible’s words for today?
- How can I live out my faith on a day-to-day basis?
- How do I share the gospel without being weird or pushy?
- How should I navigate friendships with non-Christians?
as the book’s back cover reads. Through personal narrative, other women’s stories, real-life scenarios, and questions that consistently point us back to Scripture, Brittany helps us confidently understand how God’s Word applies to our actual lives.
Brittany’s voice throughout the book is reassuring. She’s not afraid to share her own mistakes, misinterpretations, and missed opportunities. Her openness and genuine desire to help you understand what the Bible is saying will meet you in the middle of your questions and gently lead you to clarity. Rather than giving you canned or easy answers, Brittany will teach you how to hear God for yourself.
Whether you’re wrestling with questions of your own, or simply wanting to love the people in your life better in the midst of their questions, Follow God’s Will will equip you with a Biblical framework relevant for your life. It’s an incredible resource for those longing to live missionally right where God has planted them.
I give this book a solid two-thumbs up! Check out a few of my favorite quotes below.
Follow God’s Will quotes
What if, rather than bickering over which behaviors are right or wrong, godly or ungodly, we simply stopped and looked for ways to love the people right in front of us well?
(p. 37)
Can I just say amen?! This line brings to mind Jesus’s words in John 15:17: “Love one another deeply!” (TPT).
Sometimes the hardest part of helping our neighbors is simply slowing down enough to notice the needs all around us and lend a helping hand.
(p. 101)
Before we can build the kind of friendships where we drop by a neighbor’s house unannounced—with a loaf of fresh baked bread, an offer to take a kid with you to a school event, or the simply beautiful gift of availability, we have to notice those around us. It’s a heart posture—this intentional pausing, observing, making others feel seen. If we want God to ripple out through our actions and conversations, let’s lean into this practical rhythm of missional living: noticing our neighbors.
Sharing your faith doesn’t have to mean presenting others with the entire gospel message—although there is a time and place for that. Instead, it often means showing people in the context of a relationship: this is what following Christ can look like today.
(p. 180)
Friend, the things that God is doing inside you are not meant for just you. When we let what God is working out in our own hearts and lives seep into our conversations with neighbors, we see how missional living is as uncomplicated as a ripple-effect way of living.
